There are some things such as Apple Music that may have a higher price if shared with family.

There is no charge for Find My or for Family Sharing. If you can give the exact wording of "That’s what it said we were charged for." and what it was that said that, someone hear my be able to help further.

One possibility is that it is a scam, but it definitely isn't a charge by Apple for either of those 2 services.
