Hi,
As Jack-19 mentioned, you should not need any additional apps or drivers when using an AirPrint printer.
This provided that all iPhones, iPads and Macs are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router) as the printer.
About AirPrint - Apple Support
AirPrint works with wireless (Wi-Fi) or wired (Ethernet) network connections, so you could choose to wire the printer by Ethernet cable to one of the LAN ports of the Wi-Fi router. Ethernet may be more stable, and this method could avoid some other problems related to a wireless printer connection. This could at least be used for a test.
Also, in case of difficulties with AirPrint device detection (if all settings are OK), you may want to try the following procedure in the described order (do not forget the router):
Power off the Wi-Fi router, the printer, any iPhones, iPads, Macs, and all other computers and devices. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the printer. Wait a minute or two.
Power on all iPhones, IPads and Macs. Finally, power on all other computers and devices.

Remove, then Add Back the Network:
Does is work with any other device on this network? If it is not seems, then go back in to the printer’s setting > remove the network > add the network back.
If it connects to the same network, then all items should see it.

Troubleshooting macOS and HP Printers:
Try getting the correct drivers. See this link by HP: HP printer compatibility with macOS and OS X - HP Help
Hi there!
Your printer supports AirPrint. AirPrint is a technology built into most popular printer models. To use AirPrint, you don't need to install an app, additional drivers, or other software.
Are you able to connect your printer to Wi-Fi? Does it show up in the printer list when you try to add the printer to your Mac?

To all that tried to resolve this issue, I thank you. there is obviously something I'm not doing correctly. I have tried all the issues mentioned. I went to HP support, they say I cannot load the driver or firmware.
Just another quick question, how do I know if I have Air Drop, on my Mac Air
