Hi there!

You can upgrade to macOS Big Sur! Visit How to download and install macOS - Apple Support and under the "Use the App Store" section, choose Big Sur 11.

Before installing new software, it's a good idea to back up your Mac. If you have an external storage device, you can use it to back up your Mac with Time Machine.

Actually I do not know what version my macbook is on. It has not been updates since 2014 or 15
