I just found my old macbook air (13-inch, early 2015). Current software macOS High Sierra version 10.13.6.
Having trouble to get a download for update to macOS Sonoma.

That Mac can't run Ventura (13.*) or Sonoma (14.*).
You can upgrade as far as Monterey (12.*). The App Store likes to hide old versions of macOS by default, so you'll need to go through an upgrade link in this Support article.

According to MacTracker, the MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015) came with either 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM.
I don't know how well Monterey will run with only 4 GB of RAM – so if you're in that boat, you may want to take that into account when deciding if, and how far, to upgrade.
