So google will be turning drop cams into bricks! I've enjoyed using the Nest app to view my cameras on my MacBook Pro. Don't like to use app on iPhone. Has anyone had success with an alternative camera and software so as to view on the MacBook?

Not sure what your 'drop cams' does exactly...or your third paty ' Nest app'...
But I would look at the built in Continuity feature, esp "Continuity Camera" / "Handoff"
Use Continuity to work across Apple devices
A google search is your friend if you need more alternatives for your issue.
Dropcam is the older version of Google's nest cam. Google is killing it April 2024.
