In-app purchasing with gift card.

I have $25 in Apple credit from a gift card, and I would like to make a purchase with it. I know I have enough to buy it because the purchase is $9.99, and with $25 I have enough for that and any other taxes or fees that may be included, this is a one-time purchase so it is not a recurring fee. But when I go to use the gift card it says I need to verify a payment method when I know that the payment method IS the gift card. I have a debit card but do not want to use it for these types of payments especially when I know that the gift card will cover the entire thing. What am I supposed to do?

You can have a credit card / debit card on file and an Apple Account balance.

If you have set your Apple Account balance as your default payment method, your default payment method will be used first by Apple when you need to make a payment.

Some purchases might require you to have a credit card on file, even if you use your Apple Account balance to make the purchase.
