Apple News + Downloaded magazines keep disappearing
This started happening on my iPad recently. All my downloads keep disappearing. I also have the automatic download on and that feature has never worked for me.

all my downloaded magazines disappear and I have enough storage on my mini iPad, in fact I bought it exclusively just to read magazines

You may want to send feedback to reach those who work at Apple behind-the-scenes. Although this will not help immediately, and they will likely not reply, your feedback will reach those who can make changes if others are also experiencing similar download issues.

This happened to me yesterday. All the downloaded magazines weren’t available offline and there was no “download issue” option on any magazine.
The only way i found to get back the ability to download magazines was as follows:
I will note that i have also never had the auto download option work for me.

Re: Apple News + Downloaded magazines keep disappearing
Wondering if you have enough free storage space on your iPad mini for the downloads.
Eg: A device always needs some space free in which to keep operating smoothly, as well as space for downloads.

If you find you are short on storage space, it is wise to back-up everything on your iPad as a first step:

Unfortunately no I have not.
Any idea on how to get someone from Apple to even acknowledge this or are we just too few so flick us!?
I've been having this problem—or a variant on it—for a few months on recent versions of iOS on my iPhone 12 mini. In my experience, downloading issues would not work, but the app seemed to indicate to me that the issues were downloaded (a subway ride without connectivity confirms that they had not been downloaded).
After reading this thread I deleted the app and redownloaded it from the App Store and it seems to work, so this may be something that others want to try. As user @TheOriginalThee suggested, be sure to "choose ‘keep subscription’ in the removal process."
Automatic downloads stopped entirely for me about a year ago. Requested downloads take place more and more rarely…and randomly. And there seems to be no way to “force” a download to happen. I have tried restarting and that got selected downloads going…but only once (momentary and fleeting joy watching that red bar grow across the bottom of the magazine cover). I am scared to delete and reinstall the app for fear of losing the downloads I do have and not being able to download them ever again. Surely Apple must be aware of this and will do something to fix it.
Upgrading to iOS 17.6 seems to have fixed this problem. Or at least it's fixed for now. The problem tends to come and go, so who knows when it will be back.
I’m searching and searching with no answer in sight…one of the magazines I regularly read in News+ stopped getting issues since February. The latest stories section below the recent issues row displays stories from current issues but the issues themselves do not show up.
The problem is the same on my iPhone too. I haven’t checked my MacBook. I have plenty of space. Deleted and reinstalled the app, problem remains.
I should note that in my particular case, I was able to get immediate help using Apple support on my iPhone. They created a case and followed up diligently. Also, in my case, the missing magazines were due to publisher’s neglect. I reached out to them and within a couple of weeks,
Maybe sooner, the missing issues just started showing up.
This seems like the next step for me. But I am terrified to try this for fear I will never be able to download magazines again and will lose the magazines I was, by some past miracle, able to download.
Upgrading to the latest iOS fixed it! Such a simple but helpful solution…and I’m embarrassed I didn’t think of trying that. (For the record, I did try restarting my iPad.) Thank you Khoi Vinh!!!
