Apple Watch Ultra band quality

I recently went snorkling in Turks & Caicos with my new Apple Watch Ultra. Upon entering the water, the band (or clasp) broke and I lost the watch. I had the locking clasp so I’m guessing this came apart at the watch face. I can see it on Find My located at the bottom of the bay (the screenshot would be more amusing if the watch wasn’t so expensive), but we can’t physically find it. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced a quality issue like this? This is my 3rd Apple Watch and the first issue I’ve had like this.
