Changing Apple ID to Current email address, already in use?

When I try to change Apple ID to my current email address, it tells me that email is already in use. When I try to sign in using that email address, it says it is not valid or supported. The only email address I have in use as my Apple ID is my old university email, which I no longer have access to. How can I change my Apple ID to my current email address?

Here's how you change the email address (Apple ID) you use for your Apple Account while retaining everything in your account. However, you may find you need access to the old email account in order to get the verification information needed to confirm the change.:


1. Go to https://appleid.apple.com and sign in.

2. In the Sign-In and Security section, choose Apple ID.

3. Enter the email address that you want to use as your Apple ID.

4. Choose Change Apple ID.
