M2 Mac Studio max - Time Machine question

I have a 2T samsung external SSD that I have Time Machine on as I was trying to save space on the Mac Studio. But I see Time Machine is also gathering data on the M2 Mac Studio. Can I stop that to save space as the external 2 TB Samsung Drive is also Gatering the time Machine Data? Also I have very old Time Machine data on both - shoud I try to delete the old or am I asking for problems. Should have gotten more storage on the Mac - but it's double the price - ugh. Thanks for amy and all advice! (Mac Studio 32 GB running Ventura 13.5) Also after booting up with my ancient iMac from Time Machine - how can I get the new Mac Studio to recognize it now running on the Mac Studio...?

I don't understand what "Time Machine is also gathering data on the M2 Mac Studio."

Do you mean that Time Machine is backing up the internal drive on the Studio?

If you don't have much on the Studio, Time Machine won't back up much of it.

You cannot manually delete anything from a Time Machine backup. You have to erase the drive and start over.

I don't know what you mean, here, either. Do you want your Studio to continue using the Backup from your old iMac? If you migrated from your iMac to your Studio, and when you designate that Time Machine drive as a new backup for the Studio, it will ask if you want to inherit the backups. If it doesn't, then it doesn't recognize the backups as being related to your Studio and I don't believe there is a way to force it.
