Quick Time Video recording sudden stops

The video recording I am trying to make keeps stopping all on its own. I have disabled power nap in both battery and power mode and ensured power is connected. But after a few minutes, it just stops recording. I have tried recording from a test user account, and that actually did work. What could I do next to debug?

what location are you using as your "save to" location? I have, in the past, encountered issues with longer recordings stopping / not saving unexpectedly whenever I have selected anything other than "desktop" as my "save to" location. this has been especially true when "save to" is set to an external drive. so I now use "desktop" as my "save to" every time and afterwards I move them to my desired location manually. I haven't had an issue since.

Hey, you could try a few things :

  1. Check Storage: Ensure you have enough storage space available on your MacBook Pro.
  2. Quit Background Apps: Close unnecessary apps running in the background before recording.
  3. Activity Monitor: Use Activity Monitor to check for unusual activity or spikes while recording.
  4. Update Software: Update macOS and QuickTime to the latest versions.

What location are you using as your "save to" location. Try to only use "desktop" as your "save to" location.
