force restart not working iphone 7

My Iphone 7 started locking up a few months ago but thought id cured it by removing an app recently installed and has been good since (fixed the lock up by force restarting)

Today its locked up again. Was using it and it just froze then the screen dimmed then off. Force restart does nothing, plugging in does nothing, even tried find my iphone (shows offline) and calling it (unable to connect call) to see if anything would happen. All nothing. The phone had over 50% charge at the time. Ive even tried leaving it for 30 mins then and hour before trying a force restart again to no avail. Any suggestions to recover it?

As a last gasp effort, try a Forced Restart on the phone a few more times. Follow the instructions very carefully, as this is a bit tricky. You may need to repeat this several times.

Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

There are only 2 possible results when you perform a Forced Restart:

1) The phone returns to normal operation

if not......

2) There is a hardware problem with the phone that will need attention at the Apple Store (make an appointment) or at an authorized Apple Service shop

You can find authorized service shops in your area by using this link:

If you have never replaced the battery on your phone, this is most likely the cause of the lockups.

Your battery is at the end of its life and can't keep up with the power demands of your phone.

Batteries degrade over time with usage due to chemical aging, that's just how they work.

You can expect about a 1% drop per month with average use on an iPhone.

Apple recommends replacing it when it reaches 80%. To check your battery health, go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health.
