Apple Watch and local time zones

A previous link suggests that the Apple Watch, when disconnected from the iPhone, will revert to local time. The author thought this was a negative feature and states that to have the "correct" time versus local time one should carry the iPhone with them. My questions are: Wouldn't one want local time versus iPhone (or ship's time as was mentioned, for example if on a cruise)? And if one wants to carry the iPhone , couldn't one just set the iPhone to Airplane mode? On a recent Viking cruise that switched time zones, the ship posted many

notices to change our time to the local time. Thanks,

Hi Bisonjohn,

While whatever time you wish to view or set your devices to is a personal preference, if needed the articles below have information on how to change the time on your Apple Watch or use the World Clock.

Change the time settings on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Use World Clock on Apple Watch to check the time in other locations - Apple Support

If you're having an issue changing the time zone on your Apple Watch or paired iPhone the article here can assist as well: If you can't change the time or time zone on your Apple device

As mentioned in this article "The option to turn Set Automatically on or off might not be available with all carriers or in all countries and regions. If the device has a Screen Time passcode or a corporate profile with device restrictions installed, then the option to turn Set Automatically on or off will be dimmed, or grayed out."

You can also view more about what the AirPlane Mode feature does here: Use Airplane Mode on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch - Apple Support

Cheers.
