Cannot sign in to Apple TV 2. Warning message says Photostream is not enabled, but it is on all devices.

After going through the pain of 2FA - yes I know how to use the code to login a 2nd time, I had that working fine, and then as usual the ATV stops showing my Photostream screensaver after a while. This time when I do 2FA, I get a new error that the Account is not setup for Photostream so I cannot sign in? Photostream is setup all on my devices and this was working 2 days ago. I only use this box's screensaver as a photo show and that stops working and now I cannot even log back in on the ATV.

Does this have anything to do with Photo stream service being shut down? Does the Apple TV Gen 2 require Photo stream to be set up and now its removed this wont work?

Maybe. There has been no public statement about it. As My Photo Stream has been discontinued, there is no access for services that may be looking for that content. Additionally, your iCloud services may have been ‘upgraded’ via other devices to include Advanced Data Protection, which is not compatible with older software as well.


Please tell me there is a SW update coming to fix this???

No software updates are expected for legacy devices. Apple devices are generally unsupported for any changes that happen more than 5 years after their discontinuation date. The last update to Apple TV (2nd generation) system software was in 2014.
