When exporting a multi-track MXF file, only the first track is audible. The other tracks seem to just disappear after export. All this while the proper roles are attached to each track in the "export file" menu. Any answer would be appreciated!

I'm using a 2023 MacBook Pro running one Ventura 13.4.1. I'm using FCP 10.6.5.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us!

I've found a few possible solutions to this issue that you can try:

  1. Make sure that the "Export audio as separate files" checkbox is unchecked in the Export Settings window. This setting will export each audio track as a separate file, which can sometimes cause issues with multi-track audio.
  2. Try exporting the file to a different format, such as MOV or MP4. Sometimes different formats can handle multi-track audio better than others.
  3. If you're exporting to an MXF file, try using a different MXF format. There are a few different kinds of MXF, and some of them may be better suited for multi-track audio than others.

If you've tried all of these solutions and you're still having the issue, you can contact Apple Support for further assistance. I tried it with a four track MXF file exported to MXF. I turned track 1, audio role 1, down a lot. When it exported I got all four tracks, and I didn't hear the just the suppressed track 1. When I imported into FCP I saw all four tracks with track one low level. I tried this in both 6.5 and the current version.

What are you using for playback of the exported file? There is a problem with VLC with these files.
