security lockout

i have been completely locked out of my phone so i tried to erase as that was one of the only to options. but it asked for an apple ID password associated with an email that is not mine.

My iPhone 15 keeps asking for my password for an email address I haven't had for 9 years. The email address that my phone shows that is for a phone I had years ago and that is not my current email address. [Edited by Moderator]

Sounds like Activation Lock. If this device was purchased used, then the original owner is the only one that can unlock the phone using their Apple ID and Password. If this is the case, then there is no way around it and the device will be useless to you.
