Yes I have exactly the same problem. None of my wireless chargers (3 different ones) work anymore with my iPhone 12 since the iOS upgrade, but other iPhones do still work. My effective battery life is stated at 84%, so maybe this is contributing? Definitely the problem is specific to my device, not the chargers. My phone is currently on iOS 17.03

UPDATE: It’s working again!

I unplugged the Belkin MagSafe charger and powered down my phone. I placed the phone back on the charger with the charger still unplugged, then plugged the charger back up. Within a few seconds, the apple logo came on the screen and phone began charging. It went from 49% to 58% in just a few minutes. It’s now at 80% and climbing.

Unplugging and replugging the Belkin MagSafe charger seemed to do the trick. I don’t think the phone being powered down had any effect on the outcome. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply, Ryan77. I’ve reviewed/tried all of the items you suggested with no luck. To be clear, I am using the MagSafe charger made by Belkin. It’s the same charger I’ve used for over a year without issue…well, until the iOS 16.6 update. I removed my case, rebooted my phone, and even reset the phone. None of that worked. If you or anyone else has some other advice, I’m all ears.

Is anyone else out there having this problem with the latest OS?

I am having a similar problem after updating my iPhone 12 Pro Max to iOS 17.4.1.

Never had an issue with charging before, but since the update, the same phone in the same charger that's worked for a few years doesn't work anymore. I tried a different wireless charger and the wireless charger built into my car and they don't seem to work either (though both were fine before the upgrade).

The phone seems to connect to the charger okay - I see the green charging indicator and all seems well. About a minute later, the charging stops. This happens regardless of how much battery life is left on my phone - when I first noticed it, my phone was at 38%, but it occurs no matter what.

I've tried rebooting the phone, killing running apps and everything else I can think of, but nothing makes a difference.

Hey there tillmj,

We understand you're having trouble wirelessly charging your iPhone 12 Pro. We'd be happy to provide information to help you address this.

Try the steps here to troubleshoot. It may help resolve the issue: How to wirelessly charge your iPhone - Apple Support

  • "Wireless charging uses magnetic induction to charge your iPhone. Don't place anything between your iPhone and the charger. Magnetic mounts, magnetic cases, or other objects between your iPhone and the charger might reduce performance or damage magnetic strips or RFID chips like those found in some credit cards, security badges, passports, and key fobs. If your case holds any of these sensitive items, remove them before charging or make sure that they aren’t between the back of your iPhone and the charger.
  • If your iPhone isn't charging or is charging slowly and your iPhone has a thick case, metal case, or battery case, try removing the case.
  • If your iPhone vibrates—when it gets a notification, for example—your iPhone might shift position. This can cause the charging mat to stop providing power to your iPhone. If this happens often, consider turning off vibration, turning on Do Not Disturb, or using a case to prevent movement.
  • Depending on the charging mat you have, you might hear faint noises while your iPhone charges.
  • Your iPhone might get slightly warmer while it charges. To extend the lifespan of your battery, if the battery gets too warm, software might limit charging above 80 percent. Your iPhone will charge again when the temperature drops. Try moving your iPhone and charger to a cooler location.
  • Your iPhone won't charge wirelessly when connected to USB. If your iPhone is connected to your computer with USB, or if it's connected to a USB power adapter, your iPhone will charge using the USB connection."

My iPhone 13 updated to iOS 17.4.1 and my wireless charger quit charging. Like this discussion says, I unplugged my charger, shut off my phone, put the phone on my charger, plugged in the charger, the Apple icon came on, and the phone started charging. This is the first time this occurred with an iOS update. I’m glad I found this article. Thanks.

This worked for me as well, on iPhone X, iOS 17.2.1. I had already verified that the charger was getting power, and already had tried cycling power on the charger several times, but cycling charger power with the iPhone in the cradle did the trick. FWIW, just prior to this, I had done a full reset on the iPhone (vol up/vol down/press and hold power button for 30 sec).

Thank you for your post!

Amazing! My iPhone suddenly would not charge on my wireless charger pad after several years of no issues. Tried other iPhones and they worked but mine would not, even on other similar chargers. Read these explanations and, sure enough, if I place the iPhone on the unplugged charger pad and then plug the charger up...it works! I too am on iOS 17.4.1.

I logged in and came here just to say thank you for providing this succinct description for how you fixed this issue.

Amazingly this works! Had this problem with an Iphone 12 pro max, and it stopped charging on the magsafe duo. Amazingly, turning the phone off, and then putting it on the charger led to the charger starting to work again, as the apple logo came up and then the iOS showed it was charging.

I was skeptical this would work, but surprisingly this is the fix, at least for an Iphone 12 pro max that won't wirelessly charge (in or out of an iphone protective case).
