iPhone X randomly goes unavailable

Occasionally, phone is laying on the counter and connected via Bluetooth to speakers, it will stop playing. When I pick it up to check, it says: iPhone unavailable. Try again in X minutes.

I read where this screen appears after too many unsuccessful login attempts. This is not the case this time.

Any theories?

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

Usually this message will appear if your passcode is entered incorrectly as outlined here: If you see an iPhone or iPad unavailable message or Security Lockout screen

If this is not happening when you enter the passcode your display may be experiencing issues where it is registering touches. If that is the case, these steps should help:

"If your screen is too sensitive or responds intermittently to touch

  1. Restart your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Make sure that your screen is clean and free of any debris or water.
  3. Disconnect any Lightning or USB-C accessories. If your screen works after removing an accessory, try using a different outlet, cable, or charger.
  4. Remove any cases or screen protectors.

Contact Apple Support

If your screen still isn't working, you might need to set up service for your device. Contact Apple Support."

Additional details can be found here: If the screen isn't working on your iPhone or iPad

Hopefully this helps.

Cheers!
