iPhone locks up repeatedly with "iphone unavailable, try again in 1 minute" after ios26 upgrade

Has anyone else experienced their iPhone 16 locking up repeatedly after upgrading to IOS26? My iPhone 16 Pro keeps doing that with a screen message that says “iphone unavailable, try again in 1 minute", almost as if I had been trying to enter an incorrect password repeatedly. But this happens when the iPhone is in my pocket and just playing music or navigating with Apple car play. It’s frustrating with the music cutting out, and down right dangerous with the navigation cutting out and not being able to re-engage immediately. Turning the iPhone screen off and on again does nothing to fix the issue. Somehow, IOS26 seems to be interpreting pocket movement or car movement as an attempt to enter a passcode, something which never happened with the previous IOS 15.7. Anyone else experiencing this?

Go to Settings/Display & Brightness and turn off Raise to Wake. Next, put your phone in your pocket (if you must) with the screen facing away from your body so your nearby skin contact can’t activate the screen.
