Ipad Using Problem

iPad M2 11-inch and Apple Pencil 2, both of which I acquired a month ago. While using these devices, I have encountered several perplexing occurrences. As a first-time iPad owner, I am uncertain whether these are intended features or specific to my situation, prompting me to seek clarification and resolution.

1: TikTok

During my usage of the iPad M2 11-inch for activities such as browsing TikTok, I have consistently noticed a curious behavior. Each time I perform the gesture of scrolling upwards or downwards, the fluidity of motion seems limited to a frame rate of approximately 30 frames per second (fps), despite the device's impressive 120Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the news feed at times fails to refresh with new content, displaying outdated posts even when new posts should be available.

2: Facebook

Within the Facebook application, I have observed an inconsistency in the interface. While the normal new feed interface remains centered on the screen, upon selecting the "Video - Watch" section, the interface shifts to the left, leaving a noticeable gap on the right-hand side.

3: Video Playback on YouTube and Netflix

While using applications such as YouTube and Netflix to watch videos, an intermittent issue arises. Occasionally, attempting to fast forward by 10 seconds results in the video returning to its introductory portion. This necessitates closing and reopening the video, after which the issue seems to subside, allowing normal video control.

4: Apple Pencil 2 Battery Anomaly

Concerns also extend to the Apple Pencil 2's performance. After charging the Apple Pencil 2 to a full 100% battery and storing it, I encountered an unexpected predicament. When I retrieved the Apple Pencil 2 the following evening to use it for drawing, I discovered that it could not be operated due to a completely depleted battery. This is particularly baffling given that the Apple Pencil 2 is a recent acquisition.

5: Intermittent Screen Brightness

Another noteworthy occurrence pertains to sporadic screen brightness fluctuations. On occasion, the screen inexplicably flickers, briefly becoming brighter. This irregularity interrupts my user experience and causes concern.

I humbly request your expertise in addressing these matters. These experiences have left me disappointed, considering the anticipation and investment I placed into acquiring these products. As a committed Apple user, I am eager to ensure that my devices' performance aligns with the high standards I associate with the brand.

Items 1, 2 and 3 are perhaps App-specific issues - for which you may need to seek assistance from the respective App Developer for support.

Item 4, your Pencil…

An Apple Pencil will only enter its low-power mode - where its Bluetooth radio is suspended - when it is completely motionless for several minutes. In this state, an idle Pencil will consume very little power and remain useable for many weeks. When movement is detected by the Pencil accelerometer, the Pencil will return to its active state with its Bluetooth radio enabled - and attempt to automatically reconnect with the host iPad.

The slightest movement will wake the Pencil

As such, if the Pencil is idle and separated from the host iPad, while it remains completely still the Pencil consume very little power. However, if moved or being transported (e.g., in a pocket or bag), motion will cause the Pencil to remain “active” - consuming power from its tiny battery.

It is generally recommended that a second generation Apple Pencil is kept docked with the iPad when not in active use - as this ensures that the tiny internal battery is kept optimally charged when not in use. Charging only occurs when the battery requires charge from the iPad, optimal charge being entirely automatic.

Keeping the Pencil separated from the iPad when unused risks allowing its battery to discharge; if allowed to remain in this state, the battery may suffer irreparable damage. When the battery fails, the only remedy is to replace the entire Pencil; the battery is not a serviceable item.

An otherwise healthy Apple Pencil will suffer no negative consequences from being docked with its host iPad for extended periods.
