no need to create a folder. simply go in dock settings > desktop and storage manager and unselect desktop icons for "show items"

You can also create a new folder on the desktop and drag a lot of them into that folder, so that there will be one folder instead of a dozen loose items. Then it's just one more click on that folder to get to those items.
Are you wanting to hide them or what?
They can be removed by dragging them the trash, but that process presupposes you'll eventually empty the trash. That action will completely delete them.
You can try Settings>Desktop & Dock>Stage Manager (turn it on if necessary)>Customize>Desktop Items and turn it off.
