iPhone stored videos often stop playing

iPhone videos that used to play completely now stop frequently, must be manually restarted. How to fix?

Can't play video from 'Files' on iOS18. 'Files' app is dead? After iOS18 was installed I've downloaded video file from internet via 'Safary' to 'Downloads' in 'Files'. Same as was doing it previously. After trying to play it 'Files' app freeze on a screen showing video's name in the center of the screen without showing any buttons allowing it to be directed to VLC for playback. No any other buttons present either. Can't even get one step back to 'File' home screen. Removing app from multitask and relaunching it doesn't heal the problem. Even after phone's full reboot 'Files' app still in the same state. After starting it after reboot same freeze screen appears. I've removed video file via PC, but phone's 'Files' app remains in the freeze state. I'm frustrated. Any suggestions? Phone is iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 18.0 (sure =)).

Videos in hidden album freeze on frames I have some videos recorded on my phone that I have moved to the Hidden album as I want to keep them private. A lot of the more recently filmed videos are having issues playing though. They will start but then freeze on frames and the sound will continue to play. I have restarted my phone, used a variety of different wifis and mobile data, tried duplicating the videos, played them on my Mac as-well as the phone and nothing seems to work. I don’t know if it’s an internet playback issue or a data issue and if the original “content” is gone for good. How can I fix this?

Unable to play any videos on my iPhone 10 Hello! I have had this problem for a while now, but all I did before was restart my phone and it worked. All of a sudden even if I do restart my phone the videos still don’t work! I know it’s not an internet issue because my phone won’t play videos on my camera roll and my phone is at the latest update for iPhone 10 at the moment (16.7.8). Plus I have 15 gb of free space so it can’t be a storage issue. I can’t play any type of videos including tiktok, instagram, camera roll, YouTube and even music on Spotify! It only works if I have my headphones plugged in, and sometimes that doesn’t even work. Also I don’t know if this is unrelated but my phone sometimes restarts for no reason in my pocket. And whenever I play a video my volume stops to work if I’m on it. If someone can help me with this issue it would be deeply appreciated!

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

With videos not playing on your iPhone, make sure that you have enough available storage. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. If storage is low or none available at all, back up to iCloud or your computer and remove content that you no longer need on iPhone such as music, old photos, videos, voice memos, and apps.

I have the same problem on my iPhone 14 Pro and have plenty of storage space. The video will start and then just stops. Sometimes the screen goes black but usually it looks like it has paused but the progression bar at the bottom is still going like the video is playing. No matter how long I wait it doesn’t resume. If I restart, it does the same exact thing.
