I'd really like to turn this off but the off toggle is not where it should be.

I drive an old truck with no AC as my daily driver, windows down to keep cool, it can be noisy. I'm not usually blasting the music but the volume on the phone out to the Bluetooth "headphones" needs to be all the way up to connect to the head unit. I have several Bluetooth devices like this, where the phone volume needs to be all the way up, and I adjust the volume on the device. but this seems to give me a never ending stream of warnings that are driving me crazy. I looked through all of the setting but cant find a way to turn these off. Settings>Sound & Hapatics> Headphone Saftey ... and no off button. also nothing in the health app.

Any ideas?

What country/region are you in? There are places where turning that off is not an option.

You put "headphones" in quotes above? Is that because the device(s) in question are not actually headphones? If so, you might be able make things better by going to Settings>Bluetooth, selecting the device, tapping the little "i" in a circle next to the name of the device and changing the Device Type to something other than "Headphone".

Also a toggle under

Settings

Accessibility

HEARING Audio/Visual

Headphone Notifications

I’m using Bluetooth bone conducting headphones or a Bose speaker that’s plugged into the phone jack; never earbuds nor EarPods. And it’s dangerous when I am running in the city with my teens and Apple turns down my volume—I’ve missed crucial audio-cued turns and we got lost.

Apple, I am an adult and I don’t need you to play Mommy!

Darn! Eastern PA. That’s annoying.

No, here in Eastern PA, we are allowed to turn that off. I don't know why you wouldn't be seeing it. Do you have Screentime enabled? Maybe some restrictions there accidentally got turned on?

but yea thanks for the great tip on changing the Bluetooth setting! The main issue is a “headphone” which is actually my trucks head unit. I’ll give that a shot.

That should help. Apple added that ability to change device type after lots of people in your situation complained.

Apple is not reading here in this user-to-user technical support forum. However, you can certainly let them know your concerns here:

I find it interesting that you criticize Apple for acting like a parent when the volume gets turned down don't think there's anything parental about needing Apple to tell you where to go. And that you think there is something inherently dangerous about getting lost in a city.
