How do I end the Airpod tracking notification on airpods I have borrowed

I have borrowed an old pair of airpod pros from someone in my family and I keep getting notifications saying I have an unknown device following me. I don't really care about the tracking part, its no secret where I am or what I am doing but how do I stop the daily notification that an unknown device is with me and the airpods random dinging at various points of the day?

Basically, you can't disable the notifications. These were designed by Apple to prevent tracking when you have an Apple item or device nearby and traveling with you.

One option is to see if that family member will be willing to remove the AirPods from their Apple ID, and then, you can associate it with yours ... or maybe offer to buy it from them?
