MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021) DROPPED on tile floor. Suggestions on how to check for damage?
- Have a MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021) (recently refurbished & bought). And if you're reading this? Thank you.
- Shut down fully, I tripped on a wired mouse, and it fell ~ 4 feet flat onto tiled flooring (the plastic cheap type of flooring, partially on a soft rug but less than 10% "soft rug"). . .
- Seeking advice/ideas/processes to check for possible damage. Should I take it to a Mac repair place for inspection? Only to find out it's fine? Of course not, if it's fine. And I'm anything but fine right now. I'm unreasonably hysterical. Risk mitigation will give me peace of mind unless something very expensive is damaged.
- Since dropping it, I turned it on and opened my browser. I got a beach ball for the 1st time, and then it went static. I wouldn't move for about 10 seconds or so, which felt like hours.
- The above is enough for anyone willing to provide suggestions, comments, what to check, how to check, mostly via screen analysis but even technical inside analysis; that may seem absurd but the more I understand, the less mysterious it will be having it checked by a pro. I've lost trust in most these days. I just moved from Miami to Gainesville. Mostly I've lived in NYC, and the tech folks there seemed a lot more knowledgeable and trustworthy.
- I love this Mac: it's heavier. It's sturdier. It's so much better than my 2020 MacBook Pro intel, which to my surprise can't handle video-editing software.
- But the #1 criticism I have is that, unlike PCs, can't just replace a broken part or add memory. Or perhaps to some degree, you can. IDK anymore. And so if my motherboard has a hairline fracture, maybe that's OK. If a fan needs repair - does this type of Mac even have one? My bigger point is this: if this mac is damaged or becomes damaged because it fell or some other reason? I'll be forced to buy a PC for video editing. I hear PCs are getting much better, and very competitive. For all I know? Possibly I'm the idiot for remaining loyal to Apple.
