Texting attachments using iOS 16.6 on iPhone 14 pro max started failing again Aug 15, 2023

on iPhone 14 Pro Max iOS 16.6 – a recent update – messaging with attachments that are PDF typically will fail to send since last week.

I’m going to make a hypothesis and suggest that the problem might be limited to people texting PDF documents. My limited evidence includes my ability to send photographs unlimited and the similar problems noted in the APPLE community are very few and they’re aging when it’s two years and one is one year old. Where is my phone is brand new in the iOS update is brand new and the iOS update apparently Includes major changes related to text messaging; now the changes to text messaging may have been part of iOS 16 regardless that’s still a new update and the quirkiness might be a PDF issue PDF going through text messages issue or maybe it’s a setting that sound correct as a result of the iOS update perhaps there’s different settings that need to be looked at. But if there’s anybody has any information on this please elaborate. I have included a screenshot with a message send failure; although it appears to be a photograph this is a PDF document in color. I also have an issue with sharing music within the last two hours the same failure to send message came up. I then attempted to send a message with a different iPhone it happens to be iPhone 13 promax up-to-date I believe with software but a different phone and perhaps a different time I come because it is different

Hey bpmcfp,

Messages with attachments like photos, videos, or other files may be sent as an MMS message. If your messages with Jeff are typically green (SMS/MMS), you may need to check to see if you have MMS Messaging in Settings before your attachments will send.

  • You can check this as Settings > Messages > MMS Messaging.

Still not working? The steps outlined here may offer some relief.

If you still need help
• Try to restart your iPhone or iPad.
• Check your network connection. To send a message as iMessage or MMS, you need a cellular data or Wi-Fi connection. To send an SMS message, you need cellular network connection. If you turn on Wi-Fi Calling, you can send SMS messages over Wi-Fi.
• Check with your carrier to see if the type of message you’re trying to send, like MMS or SMS, is supported.
• If you’re trying to send group MMS messages on an iPhone, go to Settings > Messages and turn on MMS Messaging. If you don't see an option to turn on MMS Messaging or Group Messaging on your iPhone, then your carrier might not support this feature.
• Make sure that your device has enough space to receive images and videos.
• Make sure that you entered the correct phone number or email address for the contact.
