Unable to Send gifs or stickers

Hi. My iPhone 12(iOS version 17.3 won’t send gifs or stickers when I text someone. Always says ‘delivery failed’. The recipients don’t have iPhones but surely that’s not the problem? And the gifs I try to send come from the stock gifs on the phone. Please help.

Potential Causes:

1. Compatibility with Recipient's Device:

The fact that your recipients don't have iPhones could potentially be a factor. Different messaging platforms and devices handle multimedia content like GIFs and stickers differently, which might lead to compatibility issues.

2. Network Connection:

A weak or unstable network connection can sometimes result in failed deliveries of multimedia content. Ensuring you have a stable internet connection is crucial for sending GIFs and stickers.

3. Messaging App Settings:

Settings within the messaging app itself could be restricting the sending of multimedia content. It's worth checking these settings to ensure multimedia sharing is enabled.

Troubleshooting Steps:

1. Check Network Connection:

Ensure you have a stable internet connection, either through Wi-Fi or cellular data, to facilitate the sending of multimedia content.

2. Confirm Recipient's Device Compatibility:

While it shouldn't generally be a problem, confirming with your recipients the ability to receive multimedia content on their devices could help narrow down the issue.

3. Update iOS Software:

Ensure your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. Software updates often include bug fixes that could potentially resolve any underlying issues affecting multimedia sharing.

4. Messaging App Settings:

Check the settings within your messaging app to ensure multimedia sending options are enabled. Sometimes, there are specific settings related to sending GIFs and stickers that may need to be adjusted.

5. Try a Different Messaging Platform:

Consider using alternative messaging platforms or apps that are known for robust multimedia sharing capabilities. This might help you troubleshoot whether the issue lies with the messaging app you're currently using.

6. Restart Your iPhone:

Performing a restart on your iPhone can sometimes help clear out temporary glitches that might be affecting the sending of GIFs and stickers.

Yes, it may be the problem. Can you send photos to those people? If you can't, it means that MMS messaging is not properly configured on your phone. Contact your carrier. They will often tell you that there's nothing wrong. Ask them to disable MMS, wait until you restart your phone then have them turn it back on. You may even be able to do that yourself through your carrier's app or website.
