Samsung SSD T7 detection issue with Macbook Air M2

Samsung SSD T7 portal is not detectable on Macbook Air with M2 chip, but it works with older M1 and/ or Intel Macbook Air. Any official solution for such issue? No matter how many times I've clicked for "refresh" and turned on full drive access from Privacy & Security Setting.

Here's the solution I found. If you're attempting to attach the drive following the Samsung instructions, attach the T7 ONLY when it tells you to. That means you do so in the middle of the process which is a bit counter intuitive to me.


I did get the Samsung procedure to work, but it's odd the way they phrase the instructions.


Regardless, we have a dozen or more of the drives attached to five Macs of various vintages and models. They're all found without the "help" of the Samsung information.


For ours to be available, they can be attached either before startup or while the Mac is running.


If your T7 is balky, I suggest you consider it's damaged somehow and seek Samsung's advice on returning it. Or take it back to the local store or whatever.

since you are using Samsung's PSSD app, that could be the cause of your issue. when you use software from just about any manufacturer for their storage device you run the risk of that same software not being compatible with macOS updates / upgrades. it can cause the software to stop working. at best this will cause you a headache. at worst it can render your data inaccessible. it is always best to use disk utility to erase and format a drive before use to remove any preloaded software.
