How to get Format box in iPad pages to continually appear

From time to time the text format box in pages stays on screen alongside the document I’m working on, is there a way to make this happen all of the time? I don’t have further details, it is just great when the text formatting box is alongside the document so I don’t have to continually tap on format to do my work….using an iPad pro
