Using a second my Apple ID on my Dad's iPad

My Dad is letting me borrow his iPad for a while. I want to preserve his Apple ID, so he can purchase things on Amazon and such. At the same time, I also want to use the iPad to purchase things for myself, as well as be able to use it as a second monitor for my MacBook Air. I think that requires both devices to be using the same Apple ID, right? So, how do I set up my Apple ID as a second one on his iPad? I do not want to reset the iPad and eliminate all his apps and data. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you!

iPads are single-user devices. You can't be logged into two different Apple IDs at the same time. Logging out of your father's Apple ID on the device you're using won't cancel it. He will still be able to use it on any of his other devices.

You can only do that once every 90 days and still have access to purchased content on the device. Again, the iPad is designed to be a single-user device. There is really no way around this.

Can I switch back and forth? In other words, keep my Dad's Apple ID active, log out, and then log in using my own when I need to use it. Afterward, I would log back into his account. Would that work?
