I copied file folders that were mostly from yahoo mail but set-up in my Mail app wthrough my MacBook Air. I moved the folders over to a thumb drive and now I cannot open them. I tried to move them back to my MacBook but they still will not open.

Your actual mail service is Yahoo, not Mac mail. Mail is a portal that allows local control of a web based mail service.

That being the case, your mail should still be on the Yahoo website unless you did something to it too. Have you looked for them there?

I suggest you remove your local Yahoo mail account and recreate it using the appropriate credentials. Once you do that, all the mail on the website should be seen in your local Yahoo mail account.
