I don't know my "owner" password to download updates like Big Sur. how do I reset or get it?

I really don't have too much more than that. thats where I'm stumped

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.15

Try and reset your Apple ID password at iforgot.apple.com

If it is the macbooks password you've lost, follow this steps to try and reset it
