My iPhone was falsely reported as lost or stolen

I recently purchased a 14 pro max from a person, now it’s reported as lost or stolen and my service is suspended. When I called the number given for the fraud dept they tried to get me to purchase a security plan.

Sorry, you got scammed. It wasn't falsely reported, this was deliberate.

The owner of the phone claims his phone was stolen to the insurance company, he gets a new phone, then sells his old phone and calls the phone company to claim his phone was stolen and they block it.

Contact Facebook and let them know.

Sounds like a problem to be resolved with the seller, Facebook, and/or your bank.

Since you are not the original purchaser of the phone and do not have original purchase documentation, I imagine that Apple will refuse to remove any Activation Lock. Likewise, if a phone carrier has blacklisted the phone’s IMEI, just saying that you bought the phone used on some marketplace may not impress them enough to convince them to take the phone off the blacklist.
