iPhone 13 model releasing a lot of heat during standard use, is this normal?

i just purchased an iphone 13 mini and set it up today (08/18/2023) and was just scrolling instagram and tiktok and it became really warm (i had to put down the phone cause it was so warm) from an hour or so of being on the app and the battery went down a fair amount. im thinking it might just be because its new and adjusting to getting used but i dont know (ive never had a brand new phone, only hand-me-downs)

Congrats on your new iPhone!

If you've restored a backup from a previous iPhone it is likely it's still doing housekeeping or restoring data in the background, which takes energy which in turn translates to heat.

This is temporary and that increased energy usage on the iPhone will drop as those background processes finish, typically over the span of 48 to 72 hrs. If you still noticed increased battery usage we'd recommend confirming the apps you're using are also updated in the App Store.
