LG potable DVD Writer will not mount on 2020 MacBook Air/ Laptop/Ventura 13.5
but does mount on 2017 MacBook Air Laptop/ Montery 12.6.8.

Is there a model number associated with your LG Portable DVD Writer?
It does sound as if it might be a driver issue...perhaps with the model number I could see what the current driver for it is.
