Unable to install 3rd-party apps from the web

Got a MacBook Air M2 last week. I'd been able to install apps from the web just fine but now since yesterday I've been unable to do so. When I click on the .DMG file, nothing happens, no error message or anything like that. I'm running macOS 13.4 btw

Seems like other people had the issue before. Here are some suggestions:

Use Disk Utility to mount the disk image file. Once you open Disk Utility, go to File > Open Disk Image... and find your .dmg file. Once you mount the disk image file you should be able to right click on the disk image file name on the side bar and select "Show in Finder." Continue to install the app as usual.
Delete the following, and then restart your Mac:

Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.frameworks.diskimages.uiagent
Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.diskimages.fsck

Updating macOS shouldn't hurt. If you contact Apple Support this is the first step they will probably suggest. Good luck!

You have to double click on .dmg files.

Just to add, Ventura is now at 13.5.1. You should update.
