Trying to add a Gmail account to the iPad Mail account

Hello! When I try and add a Gmail account to the iPad native mail app, it greets me with an endless loading circle and a line of text saying "One moment please".

The password I enter Is correct, I've turned two factor on and off, I've set the default browser to Chrome and tried again. No success.

Unable to get GMail account on iPad 10th generation When I noticed that my Google Mail account did not transfer my previous e-mails to my new iPad 10th generation, I followed prompts to sign into the account again. After completing username and password, I was told for two step authentication, I was to open the Google app on the iPad, and type YES where prompted. I can’t find such a prompt when I open the Google app. When I click “try another way” sending the code to my cell phone is grayed out. That would be so much easier. Thanks in advance for any help.

I partially found the answer.

I had an application called AdBlock installed. So I uninstalled it and everything worked fine. I don't know why/what settings in that application were causing the issue.
