Using Nikon NX-D

I have been using Apple Photos to view and edit my photos. I have also, on occasion, used the RAW app to view and edit my photos. I have not had any issues with either. However, recently, I downloaded and installed Nikon’s Studio and tried using Nikon’s NX-D app to view and edit my photos. The problem is that I can’t find my photos in NX-D! Has anyone have a solution for this?

The Nikon App won't be able to see within the library. You'll have to export your original files to folders on the drive before the Nikon app will be able to access them.

Are you running iCloud Library with Optimize Mac Storage enabled also?

Or are you running a "referenced" or "managed" library?

Is the Nikon NX-D app in the Applications folder. If it is it should show in this menu when you Control (right) - click on the thumbnail image:

WARNING: when you edit the image you MUST save it with the same extension as the original was or Photos will not know it's been edited. I know this is true when editing a jpg with Photoshop and if you save it as a .psd file it's lost to Photos. I don't use RAW so am not sure how that would work. You can take an test image and experiment with it either in your primary library or a test library to see what extension is necessary for Photos to know the image has been edited and show it in the thumbnail and full sized version.

Hello Old Toad. I tried as you suggested and when I go into Photos and control click on an image, I do see the Nikon program in the menu. However, when I click "open with", it opens the app, but does not display any image. Even if it did, this process would not address the issue of not being able to see my library in the Nikon app. It would only allow me to see an individual file that I would still have to access through the Photos app which is what I am trying to eliminate. It would seem that I should be able to access my entire photo library through the Nikon app. Thanks again for your suggestion.
