This Mac Can No Longer View This Home

Dear Apple Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my concern and seek assistance regarding an issue I have been facing with my Mac. I have always been a loyal customer of Apple products and have found them to be of exceptional quality and reliability. However, I am currently experiencing a frustrating situation that I believe can be resolved with your expertise.

The problem I am encountering pertains to my Mac's inability to access my home camera. Specifically, the message "This Mac Can No Longer View This Home" keeps appearing on my screen. I have spent a significant amount of time trying to troubleshoot this matter, but regrettably, I have been unable to find a solution on my own.

I am reaching out to Apple Support because I firmly believe that this issue is not insurmountable, and with your assistance, it can be rectified. I understand that technology can sometimes encounter glitches, but I am confident that there must be a way to restore the functionality that I have come to expect from my Mac.

I would like to emphasize that my intention is not to assign blame, but rather to seek a resolution that aligns with the high standards that Apple has set for its products and services. I have invested in your technology with the belief that it would provide me with the tools I need for various tasks, including monitoring my baby camera in the kitchen. It is disheartening to consider purchasing a new MacBook solely for this purpose, especially when the current one should be capable of fulfilling this function.

I kindly request your assistance in investigating this matter further and providing guidance on how to restore the connectivity between my Mac and the home camera. I am hopeful that we can identify and address the root cause of this issue without resorting to unnecessary expenses or inconveniences.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

I look forward to your response and a swift resolution that will reaffirm my confidence in Apple's commitment to customer satisfaction.

Sincerely,

Mike

PLEASE,

I earnestly request that you spare me from being left in suspense with an answer that might seem impractical.

Updating Home to the new Home Architecture and adding Matter support requires newer macOS versions than this Mac supports. The (optional) Home update warns about this.

Some details:

Upgrade to the new Home architecture - Apple Support

Matter support in iOS 16 - Apple Home - Apple Developer

iOS 16.4, iPadOS 16.4, or macOS 13.3 or later are required for the new Home Architecture.

Check with Apple Support about downgrading your Home architecture; about downgrading the settings on the HomePod, HomePod mini, or Apple TV box. Or manage and use Home from newer versions.

There is no downgrade, though some have reportedly had some sucess with resetting and starting over. For one discussion of that sequence, there’s a Reddit thread “Downgrade HomeKit architecture”. And again, it’s not a downgrade for Home, it’s a reset and starting over for Home. Whether it will work here? Apple may or will know more.

This Apple Communities thread suggests that Apple did something so that you have to be "on Ventura in order for the latest home kit architecture to work."

Why do these Apple HomeKit devices are so… - Apple Community

It sounded like for a couple of people in this thread, when they updated their iPhone or iPad, THAT did something such that Home Kit devices then wouldn't work with Monterey, only with Ventura.

I don't have Home Kit devices, Monterey, or Ventura (yet), so I'm just tossing this out in case the experience of the posters in the other Discussions thread can help you with this problem.

You are not addressing Apple here in these user-to-user help communities. Another user may stop by to try to help you.

If you would prefer to get help from Apple you can use the "Support" link located at the bottom left of this page.

From the error message you posted it appears that the app needs to be updated/upgraded to a version compatible with your Mac OS.

I have the same problem, understand that my Older iMac (2016) with Monterrey can't work with Home app, I get that but I get the annoying camera or motion alarms every time I turned on the iMac as it still connected to the Home, but the app doesn't open when I want to see what it is, so I have to go to my iPhone or iPad. Kind of stupid. at least let me take out the app from the iMac or disable notifications on the iMac. It is kind of connected, but not working.
