Older Apple TV login failure - Solved

If you're having trouble getting your older Apple TV to recognize your user name and password and you have enabled if you are using 2-factor authentication I found a solution that allowed me to log in. The older Apple TV models do not have a prompt for 2FA so that's why your logins fail.

Start by logging into the Apple TV with your user name and then proceed to type in your password but DO NOT submit it yet. Then go on your iPhone and get a 'Verification Code'. You do this by going to Settings<Your Name (First line in settings)<Password & Security<Get Verification Code. Your iPhone will display a verification code. Go back to your Apple TV and add that verification code to you password. So if your iTunes password is; "Manthisisannoying" and the verification code is '123456' the password you input is 'Manthisisannoying123456'.

It worked for me. FYI - I haven't been able to log into iCloud as their photo stream app has been discontinued.

Best of luck
