Google widget missing now iOS 16.1.1

I had a 2x2 Google widget on my Home Screen for years. A couple of days ago, the widget was still there, but it was blank. When I tapped on it, it opened a Google search window and news feed. I deleted it and now the Google app is not showing up at all under widgets. Was there an update to iOS 16.1.1 or Google that removed the widgets?

I just had the exact problem on an iPhone, 15 Pro Max running on iOS 17. The fix is to remove or uninstall Google maps, install it back, restart your phone and the option to add Google maps widget will show up again and work properly. It’s requires giving permission again it’s really inconvenient that we need to do this on an iOS 17 and they never fix this for the past two years.

Friday June, 14th. IOS 17.4.1

Today is the official day that no Google widget is available. At first the YouTube widget was not available, which turned into a blank “black” space in my stack and I had to remove. Only to realize there is no YouTube option to add.

Secondly, Google. Same thing black space, removed, no option to add back. Luckily there was a CHROME option which included a search bar just like Google. It was ugly but functional. And today, June 14th, that widget just went black.

i know both companies got beef but something may have happened in an agreement between them.
