Unable to sign into App Store from my Macbook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)

I am setting up my old Macbook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) as school computer for my daughter. I erased everything and installed OS new. During set up it didn't let me sign in with mine or her credentials. I had to sign in after everything was installed. However, when I try to update the system from OS X Yosemite to any later OS, like Monterey, it asks me to sign in to download from the App Store. I enter my credentials and it claims that "Your Apple ID or password is incorrect." They are not. I get the notification with the code to enter on my other devices, but I have nowhere to enter it on my MacBook. I only get the message that my credentials are incorrect. What am I doing wrong? PLEASE HELP!

Thank you very much for your suggestions. Unfortunately, they don't fix the problem. I have not forgotten my Apple ID or password. As I get the notifications to approve (including the code) on all my other devices, the Apple ID and password must be correct. I believe it's an issue with the interface on my MacBook - something seems to be off. I have installed OS X Yosemite version 10.10.5. It tells me that there are "No Updates Available" when I check for Software updates - that is strange. I have wiped the hard drive several times and reinstalled OS X. No change - perhaps the OS is flawed or I make the same mistake every time when setting up the computer.

You can update to macOS X El Capitan, based on -> OS X El Capitan - Technical Specifications

Check here -> How to download macOS -> How to download macOS - Apple Support

How to update?, follow the instructions in -> Related Article: Update macOS on Mac

You can also check if your Mac is eligible for an update, you'll see Software Update in the Dock.

You need your Mac user account, that is your login user name to sign in to the App Store.

Hello @BlueMR did you ever get this issue resolved? I going through the exact same thing a year later. If you were able to get it resolved I would greatly appreciate knowing what you did. I've even exhausted Apple support, I've tried all they've recommended with no solution. The strange thing is I can log into appleid.apple.com but not the app store. Thanks in advance!
