How accurate is find my phone? I live in an apartment complex that has 3 floors and someone lost their phone. They keep thinking it is in my apartment and its not but they are adamant. I understand that not everyone is going to be truthful but I want to know what the range is so i can inform them of the details if they return. I will also be going to my office management tomorrow as today is Sunday.
It depends on multiple factors. If the device does not have a clear view of the GPS satellites, it will be located using triangulation between cell towers. Depending on tower positioning and building construction, the deviation may range up to a mile or more. It does not report elevation at all.
