My M1 Pro slows my entire home Wi-Fi

I just fired up a new user on an existing Mac. I told it 'later' at every turn when it wanted to talk about Apple-ID. Then when it was more convenient for me, when it I went back set up iCloud.

It turned out the default was to send my entire existence, including all photos, all documents, and several other folders to iCloud, sync all my emails and texts and passwords and additional items, too numerous to recall.

If I had let that proceed without stopping it quickly, yeah, that would have overwhelmed my internet connection as well.

Eexecutive Summary: Check your iCloud settings. Make sure you are only sending to iCloud what you intended, not your whole digital life.

The current stable release of Ventura including bug fixes, security updates is macOS Ventura 13.5.1 —I would start there

Get on a differnt Network if necessary to download the OS update.

You can hard reboot your Modem, router, hotspot... however you are connected, then test.

What speed does your ISP plan supply to you?

If you have a low bandwidth plan, and 30 MBps is pretty low (ours is 600 MBps), the more devices you add the more bandwidth is eaten up and all devices can suffer.
