How to Add Your Child's RBC Student Bank Card to Apple Pay and Wallet
Hi. I am posting this in case it helps some other parents in Canada. After 2 weeks of troubleshooting, visiting the bank branch multiple times and a call to Customer Service, we finally add our son's bank card to Apple Wallet. Here is a summary:
Our son had an RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) LEO Savings account that we upgraded to a Student account
Your child will need to be 13 years old to add bank cards to Apple Pay and Apple Wallet (see link below)
Your child will need to be 13 years old to upgrade an existing account or open a new RBC Student account
Your child will need to be 14 years old (or turning 14 in the calendar year) to apply for a Visa Debit Card
You will need to visit the bank branch and ask them to add an "entitlement" to the new Student account
If this is missing then you won't be able to add the child's debit card to Apple Pay and Apple Wallet
You can set low limits for ATM cash withdrawals, Debit Purchases and Interac/Other eTransfers
This will also result in your child receiving a new Client Card without the cute lion cub picture ;)
Apple Pay/Wallet work with your child account being part of Family Sharing and Parental Controls
Hope this is helpful.
