Purchased TV show content won’t auto-play in “Up Next”- SOLUTION
I previously reported that, unlike Netflix, Hulu, etc., TV series content purchased from iTunes wouldn't autoplay the next episode available after selecting the episode from the "Up Next" menu in the Apple TV app (whether Apple TV device, iPhone, iPad, etc). I finally figured out the issue, which is found under the device's Accessibility menu- and it's named in such a way as to be very misleading.
On the Apple TV device:
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Motion, and toggle on "Auto-Play Video Previews." Then go to Settings > System > Restart, and the purchased content should auto-play the next episode as it should.
On an iPhone (one that supports the Apple TV app):
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Motion, and toggle on "Auto-Play Video Previews." The purchased content should auto-play the next episode as it should without restarting the device.
On an iPad (one that supports the Apple TV app):
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Motion, and toggle on "Auto-Play Video Previews." The purchased content should auto-play the next episode as it should without restarting the device.
I don't ever recall turning this toggle off, so it might have been set to "off" by default in the iOS/tvOS 15 or 16 update, but I am not sure. Nonetheless, problem SOLVED!
