FCP won't save a new keyboard shortcut that I add to my custom command sets.

Whenever the application misbehaves, deleting preferences is a good first step.

To delete preferences, hold down command and option while starting FCP X and click Delete Preferences.

The application will start in a default state, and open an "Untitled" library. Reopen the library you were working on, set the preferences the way you like them, and try again.

Some keyboard shortcuts may already be taken by other system functionality. What was the shortcut specifically?

What I finally did and it's working is I create a new one from the default and I am customizing as my old one that's been working since FCPX was lunch in 2011. Maybe it got corrupted.

Go to Final Cut Pro->Commands->Customize.

Press the E on the onscreen keyboard. What do you see at the bottom right?

In particular, what do you see next to the Command modifier, instead of "Export Using Default Share Destination"?

Did you go to Settings->Destinations and select a default? Control-click on the destination you want as default (like Export File, for example) and choose Make Default.

Does Command-E still not work after that?

It's in an invisible Library folder so just hit Shift Command . (period) to toggle invisible items on and off in the Finder.

It'll be named whatever you named it in FCP with a .commandset name I think.

You are NOT supposed to "add Command-E as Default", that is a built-in feature.

If I understood correctly, and you are trying to add Command-E in there, stop.

What you ARE supposed to is go to Final Cut Pro->Settings->Destinations, and control-click what you want as default, and choose "Make Default":

There is already a standard shortcut for that, Command-E

Any particular reason why you need another one ? And, more to the point, which is the key combination you want to assign?

Sorry, I don’t understand what you mean by “work but not with export default”. What happens when you do Command-E? Does it export but not the png current frame? Please explain.
