Can you use pages side by side to google window

I am trying to write a document in pages and need to refer to information from a site that I have to log into on the internet in the document. I do not want to have screens flipping back and forth. I want them side by side. I know how to split screens but when I do that with pages it flips to another desktop. How do I get the desk top with pages side by side to the internet (I don't care if it is google or safari as the browser)?

iPads don't have multiple desktops.

If you are using Stage Manager, it groups apps in a side panel, and you can bring apps to the same group by dragging them from there to the center.

You can then use them at the same time by arranging them in the center area as required.

Alternatively, you can turn off Stage Manager and use Split View normally.
