Hello all,

New iPhone user here.

In comparison to its predecessors, I feel like I'm typing with boxing gloves on.

If I open Notes, for example, the system recognizes that I wish, and applies the appropriate accuracy, to place the cursor in the middle of a word, right next to the letter in question. After this initial placement, all accuracy is lost (other apps requiring text input do not even allow me the grace of this first placement). No matter what I do, I cannot accurately tap to place the cursor into a word. I have since discovered the -space bar tap, hold and slide- to fine-tune cursor placement, but really, this cannot be the solution.

My question today, is there a hardware malfunction that requires further attention, or is this a ...I don't know the opposite of ... "feature" of the iPhone?

If the latter, is there any method by which to have this phone operate at a level of quality at least equivalent to those that cost half the price?

Any advice is appreciated!

Hello,

Thank you for the response. I have in fact discovered the keyboard tap-hold-and swipe to move the cursor, and I have also discovered the double tap to select word to be able to reduce the selected field edges to one letter, but these seem excessive to access a letter within a word.

So, I imagine mow that it is safe to assume that this behaviour is typical of Apple products; not being able to access/edit a portion of a word without deleting the entire word, or using one of the steps listed above.

Is there perhaps a third-party app of which anyone might be aware that allows for a proper functionality of this device?
