Whether or not you are able to update any iPhone to a newer version of iOS will be dictated by the iPhone model - and the currently installed version of iOS. You can find this information here:

Be aware that while an iPhone may be capable of update, in some circumstances you may need to use a computer to perform the update. IMPORTANT: If you have an option to update, however, then be certain you backup your iPhone first. That way, you will have something to restore your iPhone from should anything go wrong with the update
